Competitive Incentives and Grants

To help offset the financial obligation of relocation or expansion, the City of Charlotte offers Business Investment Grants (BIGs) that are a reimbursement of incremental net new property tax paid as a result of your investment. BIGS range from 50% to 90% reimbursement with term periods between three to 10 years. Projects awarded incentives must be competitive in nature and approval is at the discretion of Charlotte City Council.

Additional incentives and grants are offered by Mecklenburg County and the North Carolina Department of Commerce. Targeted, performance-based incentive programs complement North Carolina’s competitive state cost structure.
