Global Affairs

Charlotte is an ideal place for international companies to land.
Our Meet Charlotte Team partners with international companies seeking to invest and create jobs in the city. We help to simplify the process of establishing a U.S. presence, guiding them in selecting the ideal location, workforce and infrastructure to support long-term growth.
Why Charlotte?

- More than 1,000 international firms operate in the region.
- Over 80,000 employees in Charlotte are employed by foreign-owned companies.
- Presence of 16 foreign consulates and honorary consulates, strengthening international ties and diplomatic presence.
- Nearly one in five Charlotte residents is foreign-born, contributing to the city’s cultural and economic landscape.
Charlotte isn’t just a city – it’s a global business hub ready to welcome and support your next investment.
Coordinating Official Relationships and Visits
To streamline international exchanges, our team also manages a variety of requests from foreign governments, visiting delegations and international organizations.
Services include: arranging meetings with elected officials and city staff; sharing best practices on programs and policy; expediting official invitations for city representation at events; and helping to manage requests for welcome letters or proclamations.
To best accommodate visits, please submit the request 2-6 months in advance of your arrival date (depending on the region).
Sister Cities
Charlotte's Sister City relationships are run by a committee of volunteers as part of the Charlotte Sister Cities organization. The city encourages citizen diplomacy and direct contact with our sister cities through educational, cultural and civic exchanges.
Delegate Meeting Requests
Thank you for your interest in visiting the City of Charlotte. We aim to provide beneficial opportunities and conversations for our staff and visitors. To better accommodate your request, please make a request at least three weeks in advance of your arrival date.
