The West Boulevard Corridor neighbors the Charlotte Douglas International Airport and has the opportunity to become a vibrant corridor into the city. However, the area faces real estate problems including low property values, threats of displacement and lack of connectivity to retail. Additionally, it is not a walkable area and the overall population is aging. Key opportunities include proximity to a potential light rail and redevelopment of existing spaces. Studies identified the Remount and Clanton Road intersections as the ideal locations to create dense, urban nodes.

Working hand in hand with the community, a corridor playbook was developed to understand the vision and shared future of the West Boulevard Corridor. During the playbook process, corridor residents and businesses had the opportunity to share their needs, desires and visions for their community. Through collaboration with the community and key stakeholders, these ideas will be brought to life. The West Boulevard Corridor Playbook will serve as the community's vision for the corridor over the next 3-15 years. View the playbook(PDF, 100MB).

The NEO Foundation will expand three existing core services for small businesses and nonprofit organizations to include one-on-one technical assistance and customized training, infrastrucuture support for organizational governance and development, funding and help with securing funding and compliance, and more.
