Siemens Energy Expands Operations in Charlotte, Creating More Jobs

Siemens Energy has announced it will further expand its operations in Charlotte as part of a $421 million expansion across North Carolina, creating 500 new jobs statewide.
Building on the $150 million investment that was announced in February 2024 at the company’s facility off Westinghouse Boulevard in Charlotte, Siemens Energy will make additional investments to expand its large power transformer manufacturing facility and increase service capacity to meet heightened demand.
“For decades, Siemens Energy has been an active part of the Charlotte community, giving back while also playing a vital role in our growth as a leading hub for the energy industry,” said Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles. “Siemens Energy’s continuing investment in our city is great news for our economy and for our residents.”
Also in Charlotte, Siemens Energy is expanding its generator capacity and will resume gas turbine manufacturing after a six-year pause.
“As one of Mecklenburg County’s largest employers, Siemens Energy plays a critical role in strengthening our local economy,” said Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners Chair Mark Jerrell. “The company’s decision to expand its operations here reflects confidence in our skilled workforce and the long-term opportunities Mecklenburg County offers new and existing industries.”
The investment also includes Siemens Energy locations in Rural Hall and Raleigh. The company did not provide specific job counts by location.
“The equipment we produce in North Carolina is helping meet our nation’s unprecedented growth in energy,” said Matt Neal, Siemens Energy’s president of North America. “We are building on a strong, decades-long foundation in the state, supported by a dedicated workforce that consistently rises to meet new challenges and a pipeline of young and eager talent ready to build the machines that will power the United States into the next century.”
Siemens Energy has had a presence in North Carolina since 1969.
The announcement is part of a $1 billion investment by Siemens Energy in manufacturing in the United States where the company is helping to deliver more power to more Americans and strengthen the U.S. energy supply chain. Announcements of new and expanded manufacturing were also made in Mississippi, Alabama, New York, Texas and Florida.
