Adoption Programs

You can make a donation to sponsor a pet by paying for their adoption fee!

 

Adoption Information:

Interactions stop 30-minutes to 1 hour before closing depending on how busy it is.
Interactions are limited to one per day but may allow for two per day depending on how busy it is.

If you are planning to adopt, please bring your own leash/collar set for dogs or carrier for cats. We do have slip leads for $3 and carriers for $5 but they are limited supply and not meant for everyday walks/travel.

 

30 Days of Pet Health Insurance

To help provide peace of mind after adoption, all adoptable cats and dogs include a 30-day pet health insurance policy through MetLife Pet Insurance at no cost to the adopter. This is a true gift- no credit card is required, and it will not auto-renew.

  • Coverage: $500 for accidents & illnesses after a $50 deductible.
  • You can use any licensed vet or emergency clinic in the U.S.

You MUST call MetLife at 855-710-7387 to activate this policy before you visit a veterinarian. Be sure to mention Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control to receive this gift.

PetSmart Charities Adoption Partnership

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control is proud to partner with PetSmart Charities to expand adoption opportunities through in-store adoption events. 

Through this partnership, adoptable pets are placed in PetSmart locations, increasing visibility and helping connect them with loving homes across the community. These efforts have resulted in more than 500 adoptions in PetSmart stores over the past fiscal year. 

In recognition of this impact, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control has achieved Broze Medal Status within PetSmart Charities' Adoption Partner program. 

This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to increasing access to adoptions and finding positive outcomes for the animals in our care.

Adopt a Pet

Search for adoptable dogs, cats, rabbits, fish, farm animals and many other unique pets.

Staycation / Daycation

Help shelter dogs decompress from kennel stress by taking them away for up to ten days for a change of scenery or trial adoption. You can help us learn more about them too.

Adoption Prices / Specials

Fees for our pets have a wide range. $10 pet licenses are required for dogs, cats, and ferrets over the age of 4 months.

See local rescue groups that are great resources for specific types of pets or help with rehoming your own pet.
