Cross Charlotte Trail Segment 06: Matheson Ave. to E. Craighead Rd.

Announcement

June 16, 2025 - The city has entered into a reimbursement agreement where a private developer will design & construct this segment from Matheson Ave. to 36th St. It requires the developer to build the project and be reimbursed as work is completed and accepted by the city. A portion of the segment (36th Street to East Craighead) has been previously constructed and is open to the traveling public.

Project Overview

This project will extend the Cross Charlotte Trail main alignment from Matheson Avenue to 36th Street in NoDa, with additional connectors to the surrounding area. 

Public Involvement

The following public meetings have taken place:

  • Oct. 1, 2019 at the Belmont Center
  • April 19, 2018 at the Belmont Center 

Project Cost

The total project costs are anticipated to be $16.9 million, including a $12.5 million developer reimbursement agreement to complete design and construct this segment from Matheson Avenue to 36th Street. The total project costs include all costs associated with the project such as planning & design, acquiring right-of-way, utility relocation, consultant fees, construction, signalization, permits and landscaping.
