Pipe Replacement along Old Statesville Rd.
07/22/2026 Update
Starting the week of August 10th, Charlotte Water (CLTWater) and contractor, State Utility, will repair water pipes under Old Statesville Road (near Independence Hill Road). This work will include installing a new valve.
Estimated Schedule
August 10th – Sept 4th - expect to see lane shifts, turn lanes closed occasionally. One lane will be used for both directions. Flaggers will help drivers around the site for a portion of this work. One lane will be open in each direction as much as possible.
September 7th – 18th - Northbound drivers will be detoured onto Independence Hill Road. See below map.
September 7th – end of November - expect to see lane shifts, turn lanes closed occasionally.
Water Outages
In the unexpected event of a water service interruption, the issue will be treated as an emergency and repairs will be made to restore service as quickly as possible. A planned water outage will be required at the end of the project to connect the new pipe. Customers will be notified in advance of the planned outage.
8/20/2025 Update
Charlotte Water (CLTWater) replaced water pipes under Old Statesville Road (Gibbon Road to Pete Brown Road).
Planned Water Outage on Saturday, September 27th at 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm
Who: Businesses on Old Statesville Road (7000-7200 blocks, Gibbon Road to Pete Brown).
Lower Water Pressure, Bubbly or Cloudy Water Possible
Customers on the following streets may experience lower-than-usual water pressure Wednesday night and bubbly or cloudy water once water service is restored.
Who: Berrybrook Lane, Berrybrook Lane, Bufflehead Drive, Cristal Arms Way, Fox Point Drive, Henderson Circle, Henderson Valley Lane, Hopkins Street, Laborde Avenue, Oakburn Drive, Palustris Court, Panglemont Drive, Pete Brown Road, Quinn Drive, Singing Oak Court, Summit Oaks Road and other streets.
If you experience cloudy, discolored water after the outage please:
1. Run cold water from an outside spigot (hose bib) or bath tub for at least fifteen minutes.
2. When water runs clear, run cold water through any faucets where discolored water is present.
3. If water isn’t clear after 20 minutes, call 311 or the contacts on the other side of the page.
7/11/2025 Update
Charlotte Water is installing a temporary pump station to enhance water service to customers. This work is part of a larger effort to optimize the function and resiliency of the area's water system.
What to Expect
- A pump will be delivered Monday, July 14th near the 2500 block of Kelly Road.

- Expect a temporary lane closure during delivery.
- The pump is designed to minimize noise.
- Crews will install privacy screening on the temporary fence.
- Throughout the week, crews will install piping (including some above ground) and will test the pipes and pumps.
7/09/24
Crews are installing a new water line along Peachtree Road from Oakdale Road to Ferrell Avenue. Expect to see construction activities through September 2024.
2/27/24
Charlotte Water (CLTWater) completed a Water Transmission Mains Assessment, which identified various improvements and repairs that are needed to optimize the function and resiliency of the existing water transmission system. This work includes repairs and improvements along Oakdale Road, Peachtree Road, Sunset Blvd, and Old Statesville Road. Those traveling in the area can expect:
- Temporary lane closures along Peachtree Road and Oakdale Road as construction progresses.
- Some night work is anticipated to minimize water outage impacts.
- School entrances/exits in the area will remain open for normal access.
- CLTWater reminds those traveling in the area to observe all posted traffic signage and take safety precautions during this time.
08/08/23
- Lakeview Road is now fully open. We thank you for following all posted road detours and closure traffic signs during the construction period.

CLTWater representatives will be working near properties in the area as they conduct field investigations to prepare for construction activities expected to begin Winter ‘23. Residents in the area may see minor clearing activities, as well as survey stakes/flags, paint markings on the ground, and small machinery used for utility locates and geotechnical borings.
