Project Overview

The McCullough Drive Streetscape project originated from the NECI planning effort. This project will improve pedestrian and bicycle mobility between North Tryon Street and W.T. Harris Boulevard. The project as proposed would provide bike lanes and fill in sidewalk gaps from North Tryon Street to W.T. Harris Boulevard. This project is adjacent to the McCullough Drive Extension project on the other side of North Tryon Street.

Project Goals

  • To improve pedestrian and bicycle mobility between W.T. Harris Boulevard and the McCullough Drive light rail station at North Tryon Street
  • To promote economic development by providing infrastructure to support and encourage transit supportive development near the McCullough Drive light rail station

Public Involvement

The project team hosted numerous community meetings during the planning phase, where residents shared ideas and asked questions. This feedback informed the design and gave the team insight into the community's priorities.
