January 21, 2026 - The project is currently in the bid phase. During the bid phase, the city uses a competitive bidding process to procure the services of a contractor to build the project. By state law, the construction contract is awarded to the lowest responsible bidder.
Originating from the Northeast Corridor Infrastructure Program (NECI) planning effort, this project proposes to provide a new street connection by extending McCullough Drive from North Tryon Street to the existing dead end at Ken Hoffman Drive. The conceptual cross section includes two travel lanes, planting strips, curb & gutter and sidewalk. This project is adjacent to the McCullough Drive Streetscape project on the other side of North Tryon Street.

Public Involvement
The project team hosted numerous community meetings during the planning phase, where residents shared ideas and asked questions. This feedback informed the design and gave the team insight into the community's priorities.
