Overview

The Coulwood Water Quality Enhancement Project will improve surface water quality through the restoration of wetlands and streams to treat and convey the watershed’s runoff. The project is located within a drainage area of approximately 570 acres. The project is proposed to be built on an undeveloped parcel of land bordered by Birchwood Drive to the north, Hidden Creek Drive to the south, West Bank Drive to the west, and Cottonwood Park Drive to the east.

Project Updates

August 2026

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services will begin construction soon to repair eroding stream banks and improve wetlands in the area. On May 26, City Council awarded the construction contract to Wildlands Engineering, Inc. and is scheduled to start in late 2026 and is anticipated to take 24 months.

During the next few months, these activities may be underway: locating, flagging, marking and relocating utilities.
