Right-of-Way Management

The CDOT Right-of-Way Management section ensures public streets and sidewalks are used safely and fairly, balancing growth and development with access to the right-of-way. The public right-of-way includes streets, sidewalks, bike lanes and shared use paths that everyone uses to get around Charlotte.

Construction, utility work and community events often utilize these spaces. Our team reviews and issues permits for this work, coordinates with other city departments, and helps keep travel safe and accessible while these activities occur.

CDOT Right-of-Way manages permits for things like:
