Announcement

Aug. 28, 2024 - Construction for this project was completed in May. Landscaping is performed once construction ends. This includes planting trees and shrubs and installing other related amenities identified in the design. Landscaping for this project will take place the fall of 2024.

This project originated from the Northeast Corridor Infrastructure Program (NECI) planning effort. The project proposes to provide improved pedestrian and bicycle connectivity along Sugar Creek Road in support of the LYNX Blue Line Sugar Creek Station and the North Carolina DOT Bridge Project. Bike lanes, sidewalk and street trees are proposed along Sugar Creek Road from Greensboro Street to North Tryon Street.

Project Goals

  • To improve access to the LYNX Blue Line by improving pedestrian and bicycle facilities near the Sugar Creek Station

  • To promote economic development by providing infrastructure to support and encourage transit-supportive development near the Sugar Creek Station

Public Involvement
