Rezoning

Meeting Update: The City of Charlotte Zoning Meeting on Monday, August 17, 2026, will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the Government Center, 600 E. Fourth Street, Charlotte, NC 28202 and be open to the public. There will be no virtual participation option. It will be available to view on the city's, GovChannel, Facebook, and YouTube pages.

Members of the public can sign up to speak during a zoning hearing by calling 704-336-2248 by 1:00pm on the day of the Council meeting. Individuals can sign up to speak in person by approaching the City Clerk at the dais, prior to the start of the public hearing. The City of Charlotte is committed to making our services and programs accessible to all. A property owner who wants to use the land for a purpose outside their specified zoning district must petition the city to change the zoning district. This process is called rezoning.
