Volunteer Opportunities this Spring
Published on April 07, 2026
Spring is in full swing in Charlotte, and with spring break underway and Earth Day coming up on April 22, there are several volunteer opportunities planned.
Spring Break Pollinator Garden Plantings
Keep Charlotte Beautiful has partnered with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to host three pollinator plantings at local schools.
- April 8, 9-11 a.m., Albemarle Road Elementary School
- April 9, 9-11 a.m., Newell Elementary School
- April 10, 9-11 a.m., Piney Grove Elementary School
Sign up to participate in a planting. All volunteers also need to register as a volunteer with CMS.
If you have your own pollinator garden or want to plant one, make sure to register it with the city. Approved habitats may qualify for an exemption from the nuisance vegetation ordinance and will receive a city yard sign to display. Pollinator habitats and naturalistic landscapes support bees, butterflies and other wildlife while helping protect local waterways.
Corridors of Opportunity Cleanups
Keep Charlotte Beautiful and its community partners are celebrating Earth Month by hosting litter pickups within the Corridors of Opportunity. The cleanups will be held Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to noon at different locations around the city.
- Albemarle Road McDonald’s
- CATS parking lot
- St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church
Register as a volunteer today. Volunteers will be emailed the day before the cleanups with details about what to wear and bring.
Clean the Queen
Clean the Queen is an annual, week-long volunteer event dedicated to making Charlotte cleaner, greener and more sustainable. It is cohosted by Keep Charlotte Beautiful, Solid Waste Services and the Innovation Barn. From April 20-24, volunteers can choose to pick up litter and/or build sound panels.
