City Celebrates Pollinator Week June 16-22

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 13, 2025)The City of Charlotte’s Landscape Management team is celebrating Pollinator Month this June with a series of free public events across the Queen City. Through hands-on workshops, guided walks and community gardening days, residents can learn more about the essential role of bees, butterflies, moths, birds and other pollinators while helping to build a more biodiverse and resilient Charlotte. This year’s theme, Charlotte Buzzes Together, celebrates the ways our community can support pollinators and protect the natural spaces we all depend on.

EVENTS

Be a Tree Detective – Join Landscape Management’s City Arborist Group for an educational session on common tree issues, prevention techniques, and when to call in a certified arborist.

Pollinator Garden Work Days – Volunteers will work with Keep Charlotte Beautiful to maintain pollinator gardens at Charlotte-Mecklenburg school campuses.

Moth Night with Lenny Lampel – Explore nocturnal pollinators in their natural habitat during this guided nighttime moth observation

Balconies in Bloom: Pollinator Gardening for Small Spaces – A hands-on container gardening workshop for residents in apartments or homes with limited space.

Wells Fargo Building Light-Up – Charlotte’s Wells Fargo building will glow in pollinator pride.

Pollinator Walk – A guided walk to observe pollinators and native plants up close.

Pollinator Pop-Up at Circular Saturdays – Stop by our table for pollinator activities, crafts, a bee scavenger hunt, and info on how to make your own pollinator haven at home.

Moth Night Out – Join experts from Charlotte Wildlife Stewards and NCWF for an evening of moth-watching and conversation.

Pollinator Census & iNaturalist BioBlitz – Help Charlotte track pollinators during this regional biodiversity event.

TAKE THE POLLINATOR WEEK QUIZZES

Each day during Pollinator Week (June 16-22), the City Arborists Office will test residents' knowledge of pollinators with a series of quizzes sent via email or text message. If you answer all the questions (even if they're incorrect!), you'll be entered in a drawing for a pollinator care package containing seeds, books, stationery and other pollinator-themed swag. Just sign up to get the quizzes!

SUPPORT POLLINATORS: PLANT A TREE

Charlotte residents can request a free street tree to be planted in the city’s right-of-way in front of their property. The city will handle the planting and maintenance — just fill out the form!
