Every year, millions of people all over the world come together to donate, volunteer and give back to their communities during GivingTuesday, a global campaign to inspire generosity and effect positive change. This year, we're highlighting a few unique ways you can participate in the GivingTuesday movement right here in the Queen City.

Here are five ways you can support Team Charlotte's mission to promote the safety, health and quality of life of all residents:

  1. Make a monetary donation to Animal Care & Control during their Season of Second Chances campaign. This annual year-end campaign helps ACC provide lifesaving support for thousands of animals who rely on the shelter every year. Your donation directly supports urgent/specialized medical care, enrichment items, foster program resources and adoption efforts. Donate online.
  2. Volunteer with Keep Charlotte Beautiful. There are many ways to get involved with KCB's commitment to improving and beautifying our community. Joining their Volunteer Brigade is a good place to start! You can sign up through the online form. If a monetary donation is more your speed, consider supporting their affiliate nonprofit, Friends of Keep Charlotte Beautiful.
  3. Purchase supplies for the Charlotte Fire Department's free youth development camps. Both Camp Hornet's Nest and Camp Ignite have an Amazon Wish List full of items they need to provide an unforgettable experience to Charlotte teens. Donate supplies through Amazon or makea direct donation to Camp Ignite via PayPal.
  4. Become a SEAP+ Ambassador. Help the City of Charlotte reach out Strategic Energy Action Plan+ goals by serving as an enthusiastic champion of all things sustainability. If this sounds like the perfect fit for you, sign up to be a SEAP+ Ambassador today!
  5. Host a MYEP intern. The Mayor's Youth Employment Program (MYEP) works to provide Charlotte youth with equitable career development opportunities to explore the world of work, build social capital and enhance economic mobility. This mission is not possible without the support of businesses. Learn how to become a Host Employer on the MYEP webpage.

These are just a few of the opportunities available for residents to get involved with the City of Charlotte. For more, visit our Events Calendar or subscribe to our biweekly newsletter, City Speaks.
