Education:
North Carolina Central University, bachelor’s degree in information systems.
Professional Experience:
Council Member Mitchell has spent much of his professional career working in construction, including as director of business development for Barton Malow and president of R.J. Leeper Construction.
Civic Engagement:
He has been involved in multiple leadership organizations in the community, including serving as vice president of the Black Political Caucus and president of Focus on Leadership, Save-the-Seed, Black Data Processing Association, and Young Democrats of Mecklenburg County.
Key Achievements:
Accomplishments include helping to bring thousands of jobs and several large events to Charlotte, one being the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Other achievements he had a role in are Northlake Mall, Truist Field, Bank of America stadium improvements, two political conventions and the Charlotte Inclusion Program. He also contributed to renaming a street in Uptown after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
