The Real Estate Division provides various real estate services that support initiatives across the city, and advises city staff, elected officials, and the public on property matters. Services include acquisition, appraisal, portfolio management, leasing, and disposition of city-owned property.

This program facilitates 1,200 to 1,500 acquisitions each year and prepares property transactions for City Council approval. Staff oversee contracted real estate agents, who make offers and negotiate with citizens and property owners to acquire land, easements, and right-of-entry agreements.
This program appraises real property and estimates properties’ market value for transactions and budget planning. The program completes internal consulting and analysis and oversees external appraisals from contracted firms.

This program administers leases, researches potential sites for city initiatives, and supports partner departments’ operational property needs. The program also oversees the city’s real estate inventory, and markets and sells city property identified as surplus.
