Overview

The Water Oak Storm Drainage Improvement Project will reduce street and structure flooding throughout the neighborhood. Located within a drainage area of approximately 115 acres, the project will replace and/or rehabilitate aging infrastructure and provide adequate drainage system capacity. The project area is bordered by Bertonley Avenue to the north, Addison Drive to the south, Emory Lane to the east and Whitby Lane to the west.

Project Updates

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services is starting construction of the Water Oak Storm Drainage Improvement Project. On December 5, 2022, City Council awarded the construction contract to Sealand Contractors Corp. Construction is anticipated to take two years. 

A public meeting was held on April 27 to share information and answer questions.

*includes all costs associated with this project such as planning and design, utility relocation, consultant fees, permits, construction, and landscaping.
