Overview

The Water Oak Storm Drainage Improvement Project will reduce street and structure flooding throughout the neighborhood. Located within a drainage area of approximately 115 acres, the project will replace and/or rehabilitate aging infrastructure and provide adequate drainage system capacity. The project area is bordered by Bertonley Avenue to the north, Addison Drive to the south, Emory Lane to the east and Whitby Lane to the west.

August 2025

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services and Sealand Contractors Corp. continue with construction. Work is anticipated to be complete mid-2025.

Project updates

  • Storm drainage and sanitary sewer improvements are complete along eastbound N. Sharon Amity Road.  
  • A lane closure along westbound N. Sharon Amity Road is in place as storm drainage and sanitary sewer improvements continue.
  • Storm drainage improvements on Bridlepath Lane, Judith Court, Queen Charlotte Court and on Water Oak Road near Randolph Middle School continue.

*includes all costs associated with this project such as planning and design, utility relocation, consultant fees, permits, construction, and landscaping.
