Overview

The Water Oak Storm Drainage Improvement Project will reduce street and structure flooding throughout the neighborhood. Located within a drainage area of approximately 115 acres, the project will replace and/or rehabilitate aging infrastructure and provide adequate drainage system capacity. The project area is bordered by Bertonley Avenue to the north, Addison Drive to the south, Emory Lane to the east and Whitby Lane to the west.

October 2023

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services and Sealand Contractors Corp. continue with construction. Work is anticipated to be complete mid-2025.

Project updates

  • Water main improvements have started along Stafford Circle from Emory Lane to Addison Drive.
  • Sanitary sewer improvements have started at the intersection of Emory Lane and Stafford Circle.
  • Emory Lane at the intersection of Stafford Circle is anticipated to close late November/early December for the installation of two seven-foot box culverts. More information will be provided prior to the road closure.
             

Estimated Cost: $14,100,000*

*includes all costs associated with this project such as planning and design, utility relocation, consultant fees, permits, construction, and landscaping.
