Overview

The Magnolia/Winthrop Storm Drainage Improvement Project will reduce street and structure flooding throughout the neighborhood. Located within a drainage area of approximately 30 acres, the project will replace aging infrastructure and provide adequate system capacity. The project area is bordered by Magnolia Avenue to the north, Ideal Way to the south, Dairy Branch to the east and Iverson Way to the west.

Project Updates

July 2025

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services and engineering consultant McAdams continue with the design phase. The project team is coordinating with private utility companies to relocate utilities that conflict with the Magnolia Winthrop Storm Drainage Improvement Project. The project team is working on finalizing the design plans. 

Next, the bid phase will begin. During this phase, the final plans will be circulated to qualified contractors for a competitive bidding process. Once City Council awards the contract, construction will be scheduled.
