Overview

The Farmer Storm Drainage Improvement Project will reduce street flooding throughout the neighborhood. Located within a drainage area of approximately 50 acres, the project will replace aging infrastructure and provide adequate drainage system capacity. The project area is bordered by West Boulevard to the north, Caronia Street to the south, Clanton Road to the east and Rose Avenue to the west.

October 2025

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services is working with United of the Carolinas Inc to construct storm drainage improvements in the Farmer Street area. Thank you for your patience.

  • A portion of Romare Bearden Drive between West Boulevard and Farmer Street is anticipated to close on November 3 for approximately 3 months.
  • Access to residences will be maintained.
  • To ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians and crew, please follow all signs.
  

Estimated Cost: $9,700,000*

*includes all costs associated with this project such as planning and design, utility relocation, consultant fees, permits, construction, and landscaping.
