Overview

The Elvis Storm Drainage Improvement Project will reduce street flooding throughout the neighborhood. Located within a drainage area of approximately 1027 acres, the project will replace aging infrastructure and provide adequate drainage system capacity. The project area is bordered by Elvis Drive to the north, McKee Creek to the south, Eastlake Road to the east and Cedarbrook Drive to the west.

Project Updates

May 2026

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services will begin construction soon. On May 11, City Council awarded the construction contract to GS Construction Inc. Construction is scheduled to start in mid-2026 and is anticipated to take 18 months.

Before construction begins, these activities may be underway: locating, flagging, marking and relocating utilities.

During the project, road closures are planned for portions of East Lake Drive, Denbur Drive, and Cedarbrook Drive. A mailer will be sent in advance with the anticipated road closure date and length.

             

Estimated Cost: $5,700,000.00*

*includes all costs associated with this project such as planning and design, utility relocation, consultant fees, permits, construction, and landscaping.
