These improvements are being constructed ahead of the larger 6th and Graham Storm Drainage Improvement Project.

Project Updates

June 2026

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services is working with OnSite Development, LLC, to construct storm drainage improvements on West 6th Street. Thank you for your patience.

  • Challenging soil conditions combined with working around and relocating numerous underground utilities is significantly slowing progress of construction. As a result, construction is now expected to continue for an additional six months.
  • Access to residences and the Discovery Place Science Parking Deck will be maintained.
  • As the project progresses, traffic patterns will shift. To ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians and crew, please follow all signs.
