Firehouse #45

A new two-story, three-bay firehouse, approximately 14,000 square feet that will serve Hidden Valley, Newell South and surrounding neighborhoods

Announcement : April 14, 2025 - Edison Foard, Inc. was selected as the general contractor to complete construction of this facility. Construction continues and is approximately 93% complete. The project is expected to be complete in the summer of 2025.

Firehouse #11 Replacement

Seeks to replace an older, outdated facility with a modern, state-of-the-art facility that is better equipped to serve the surrounding community

Westinghouse Boulevard Multiuse Path

Will construct a multi-use path for bicyclists and pedestrians along Westinghouse Boulevard between South Tryon Street and Shopton Road West

Announcement : September 19, 2024 - Construction is now complete and the one-year warranty phase is underway. During the warranty phase, construction inspectors will evaluate the project at six months and again at eleven months for maintenance purposes and make any necessary repairs. Thank you for your patience during construction.

Land Acquisition and Street Connections

Implements the Independence Boulevard Area Plan to promote economic development along the corridor. Projects include the Oakhurst & Amity Gardens Multiuse Path and the Shade Valley Road Realignment and Roundabout

South Charlotte Reinvestment Program

represents multiple strategic projects designed to improve sidewalks and intersections that improve the transportation facilities in areas of need

Six Police Division Stations

Will construct six new permanent police stations in Westover Division, Hickory Grove Division, South Division, University City Division, Independence Division and Northwest Division. All are complete except the Northwest Division.

Peachtree Hills Sidewalk

Constructs sidewalk in three locations in the Peachtree Hills area

Announcement : July 20, 2022 - Fiber optic relocation has been delayed and is expected to be complete by Aug 2022. After that construction can start on the rest of the Oakdale Road project, which must be complete before work on this project can start. Due to continued material shortages and long lead times, the estimated construction completion of the Oakdale Road FTM project is now anticipated to be mid-2023.

Lakeview Road and Reames Road Intersection Improvement

Addresses expected higher traffic volumes and changing traffic patterns in the future by installing a roundabout and sidewalk

Announcement : December 28, 2023 - This project has completed construction and is currently in the warranty phase. Material is being procured for landscaping which will be installed by spring of 2024.

Barringer Drive/West Boulevard Intersection

This project includes new accessible ramps, crosswalks, pedestrian signals, placemaking and truck aprons.

Announcement : September 7, 2023 - Construction was completed in June 2023, including the installation of landscaping.

Corridors of Opportunity: Albemarle/Central

Working hand-in-hand with the community, a corridor playbook was developed to understand the vision and shared future of the Albemarle/Central corridor, and several key projects identified.
