Oct. 8, 2026 - Real estate acquisition will start in late fall. During this phase, the city acquires the property rights needed to build and maintain the improvements identified during the design phase. City real estate staff will contact affected property owners to explain the city's acquisition process and answer any questions. Construction is expected to start in the spring of 2028.
Part of the Sidewalks & Pedestrian Safety Program
This project will construct an approximately 0.75-mile-long (4,000 linear feet), 10-foot-wide concrete shared-use path along the east side of Mallard Creek Road from Governor Hunt Road to Driwood Curt. Specific improvements will also include an 8-foot-wide planting strip, curb & gutter, accessible ramps, driveways and potential drainage infrastructure.
In May and June of 2026, the project team prepared a video presentation that was posted on the project website, alongside a comment form for residents to submit their feedback. Watch the video.
