  • SummaryThis federally funded project will reconfigure the intersection of Ashley Road, Tuckaseegee Road, and Freedom Drive to improve safety, traffic operations, and multimodal connectivity. Improvements include extended turn lanes, updated horizontal and vertical alignment, pedestrian refuge islands, wider sidewalks, and new bicycle lanes.

The project also extends existing bike lanes along Tuckaseegee Road to strengthen connections within the corridor. The AFT project supports the City’s Corridors of Opportunity program by increasing access to resources, enhancing connections to transit, and improving travel options for people walking, biking, and using transit. The project also complements planned mobility hub investments near the intersection by improving access, safety, and network integration across the Freedom Drive and Tuckaseegee Road corridors.
