Solid Waste Services Christmas and New Year’s Collection Schedule

City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services will not collect garbage, recycling, yard waste and scheduled bulky waste on Thursday, Dec. 25, in observance of Christmas Day.  

Thursday customers will receive service on Friday, Dec. 26, and Friday customers will receive service on Saturday, Dec. 27. It is a green recycling collection week.

New Year’s Collection Schedule 

The city will be closed on New Year’s Day, but Solid Waste Services will collect garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky waste on the regular schedule Thursday, Jan. 1, and the rest of that week. It will be an orange recycling collection week.

Christmas Tree Collection Schedule 

Natural Christmas tree collection will begin Monday, Jan. 5. Trees should be placed at the curb for yard waste collection and free of lights, decorations and tinsel. Artificial trees and all wreaths should be scheduled for bulky item collection. You can schedule bulky items by calling 311, visiting the city website or using the CLT+ app.

You can find your collection day by visiting the city’s property tool, My Charlotte Lookup. Type in your address to be reminded of what day of the week you receive service and if you are an orange or green recycling week.

Solid Waste Services offers text alerts for collection updates, service disruptions, recycling and waste preparation tips, quick surveys, and other important city service information. Residents who would like to receive updates can text their day of service to 73224. For example, if their collection day is Thursday, they would text “Thursday” to 73224.
