Open door of a solid waste services collection truck frames the city skyline at dawn.

City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services will collect residential garbage, recycling and yard waste on Friday, April 3. Bulky waste will be collected as scheduled.

The city will be closed on April 3 in observance of Good Friday, but there will be no delay to collection services. Be sure that carts are placed at the curb no later than 6 a.m. on collection day. It is a green recycling week.

Details about the 2026 holiday collection schedule can be found online.

Solid Waste Services offers text alerts for collection updates, service disruptions, recycling and waste preparation tips, quick surveys, and other important city service information. Residents who would like to receive updates can text their day of service to 73224. The text alerts are available in English and Spanish. For example, if their collection day is Thursday, they would text “Thursday” for English updates or “Jueves” for Spanish updates to 73224.

You can find your collection day by visiting the city’s property tool, My Charlotte Lookup. Type in your address to be reminded of what day of the week you receive service and if you are an orange or green recycling week.
