Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 21, the Charlotte Department of Transportation will begin roadway improvements along a section of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The work will require the street to be closed to vehicle traffic between College and Brevard streets from Oct. 21 through Nov. 3.

While closed to vehicle traffic, the street will remain open to bicycles, pedestrians and local traffic. Drivers should use alternate routes and allow additional travel time when traveling in the area.

The improvements include replacing the existing concrete roadway with a smoother asphalt surface, improving bike lanes and enhancing loading access around the Charlotte Convention Center.
