City of Charlotte to Host Skilled to Build Kickoff

What 

The City of Charlotte will host a kickoff event for Skilled to Build, a citywide initiative designed to prepare local businesses and workers for opportunities emerging from more than $25 billion in transportation and transit investment. First announced in December 2025, Skilled to Build brings together small businesses, workforce development organizations, education and training providers, employers and community leaders with the shared goal of preparing local businesses, developing workforce talent and connecting our region’s employers to the largest infrastructure program in local history. 

City leaders will discuss how Charlotte is preparing for future mobility projects and why this work needs to happen now. The event will also introduce several workforce and economic development grant recipients.
