Office of Charlotte Business Inclusion Releases FY 2024 Annual Report

The City of Charlotte’s Office of Charlotte Business INClusion (CBI) released its Fiscal Year 2024 Annual Report, showing a commitment to economic opportunity for all with more than $185 million spent in minority, women and small business enterprises (MWSBEs).
The report’s theme of “Driving Inclusive Economic Impact Through MWSBE Engagement” shows how the city supports historically underrepresented entrepreneurs through intentional policies, access to contracting opportunities and development programs. As a result, the city saw a 31% increase in minority business enterprises spending and an 18% increase in subcontractor spending.
Some key highlights include:
· Extending $102 million in city bond lines across 32 contractors.
· Supporting economic growth with 2,237 jobs created or supported, generating $19 million in Local Tax Revenue over a five-year period.
· Adding six new Million Dollar Contractors, businesses the city spent $1 million or more with. The 2024 Million Dollar Club includes 43 MWSBEs.
· Welcoming 153 new city-certified vendors.
· Expanding the Contractor Development Program to offer surety bonding support, estimating workshops and licensing preparation. A total of 60 business owners completed the program and 13 were awarded contracts with the city.
Every day, CBI works to build strategic partnerships and create opportunities for local entrepreneurs. The report also highlights some of the successful businesses participating in CBI’s programs.
