The Fleet Management division maintains the City of Charlotte's and Mecklenburg County's stock of equipment and commercial motor vehicles, including cars, vans, trucks and specialty vehicles such as fire and garbage trucks.
Fleet technicians and other staff provide many skilled services, including preventive maintenance and equipment repair, fleet information and usage analysis, parts and inventory compliance and warranty management. The division's goal is to provide safe and reliable maintenance and repair at best value for more than 7,000 city and county vehicles and pieces of equipment.

The Atando Shop was built in 2011 and services mostly light- and medium-duty city vehicles. The shop is outfitted with 26 working bay, updated amenities and strategically laid out workspaces to maximize efficiency. Atando offers a drive-through service on any repair that can be completed in 30 minutes or less, such as tires, wipers, lighting and some preventive maintenance tasks.

The Commission & Decommission Shop installs special equipment on new vehicles and removes equipment from old vehicles in preparation for their disposal through public auction. CDC is also responsible for creating vehicle specifications and ordering new equipment to meet client needs.

The 16,000-square-foot General Commerce Shop services light-, medium- and heavy-duty equipment. The facility was built with sustainable design elements and features green cleaning, an integrated pest management policy, a rooftop solar photovoltaic energy system, an optimized mechanical system for energy performance, low-emitting materials, interior lighting controls and low-flow water fixtures. Total energy cost savings are predicted to be more than 59%.

The Louise Avenue Shop services mostly heavy vehicles (larger than 10,000 lbs.) and construction equipment, including dump trucks, fire trucks, garbage trucks and backhoes. It has 19 bays and operates a new vehicle wash facility.

The Sweden Road Shop services mostly heavy vehicles (larger than 10,000 lbs.) and construction equipment, including dump trucks, fire trucks, garbage trucks and backhoes. The 13-bay shop services the most complex and diverse equipment in the city's fleet and is the primary service point for Fire Apparatus.

The Tuckaseegee Road Shop, commonly known as the small engine shop, repairs and maintains landscaping equipment, small engine vehicles and some specialty equipment such as tractors, sewer cleaning machines and trailers. It has four service bays with one lift.
