The City of Charlotte is hosting a public forum to provide feedback on a federal grant application for $10 million to go toward affordable housing in the region.
The Pathways to Removing Obstacles (PRO) Housing grant, offered by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), works to remove barriers and other obstacles to affordable housing production and preservation.
The city is proposing a streamlined information and process center to ensure that information, resources, and incentives are available to anyone and everyone interested in creating affordable housing in the Charlotte region. The goal of these streamlined programs and services is to make building affordable housing more accessible, so more units will be available across the entire city, especially in areas of opportunity.
The application will be available for review online by Oct. 14. A public hearing will be held Oct. 25 in the evening in person, location TBD. Another drop-in breakfast session will be held October 26 (location TBD), followed by virtual lunch option as well. Comments can also be made online at publicinput.com/cltprohousing.
If you need disability-related accommodations or translation services, please contact Housing & Neighborhood Services at least three business days before the public hearing.
