CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Feb. 1, 2024) – The City of Charlotte is seeking input from Charlotte residents regarding their budget priorities for the city’s next fiscal year, that runs from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.

The city will host four budget listening sessions throughout February and March to provide residents a chance to share their thoughts and ideas on creating a budget reflective of community needs and priorities. The listening sessions are listed below:

Residents can also share feedback by taking the FY 2025 Budget Survey and using the Balancing Act simulator through March 31. Balancing Act is a tool that allows residents to test their budgeting skills and balance the city’s more than $3 billion budget.

“In the tapestry of fiscal responsibility, residents are the vital threads that weave our budget together,” said Ryan Bergman, director of the City of Charlotte’s Strategy & Budget Department. “Active participation in budget engagement is not just a civic duty but a catalyst for shaping a financial landscape that truly reflects our community's collective needs."

After feedback from residents has been received, the Strategy & Budget Department will hold workshops for City Council in April and May. The city manager will present his recommended budget on May 6. A public hearing on the FY 2025 Proposed Budget is scheduled for May 13.

Council workshops and presentations will be streamed on the GOV Channel and YouTube.
