Charlotte Fire Now Accepting Fire Recruit Applications

Charlotte Fire is accepting applications for its firefighter recruit program until April 10, 2024. Starting a new career in the fire service is something many people dream about. From saving lives to protecting property, a firefighter is a noble and rewarding career choice that allows you to make a difference in your community while serving others.

Charlotte Fire recruits are paid full-time employees with a complete City of Charlotte benefits package beginning on day one of recruit school at the Charlotte Fire Training Academy. Once a candidate is selected for hire and placed into a class, recruit school lasts approximately six months.

As a firefighter, you respond to calls with your crew members to protect the community and each other. This camaraderie helps many professionals feel welcome in their department and make lifelong friendships.

After gaining experience as an entry-level firefighter, you have many opportunities to advance. There are several special operations areas to pursue with Charlotte Fire including a dive and boat team, rescue crews, hazardous materials specialists, helicopter – aquatic rescue and much more.
