Spay & Neuter

Due to a significant influx of animals into our shelter over the past year, our public clinic surgery spaces have become limited. Our top priority is ensuring that shelter animals ready to embark on their new journeys find loving homes, which has led to an extended wait time for free and low-cost spay/neuter surgeries.

We understand the importance of timely pet care and encourage you to explore other low-cost options available in our community to get your pet fixed sooner. While our free spay/neuter services are available, we want to ensure that everyone has access to affordable solutions.

The Community Cat Spay/Neuter program was created to help lower the overpopulation of feral and community cats in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area.

This program is specific to cats that are not owned (meaning no one is caring for or feeding roaming cats) in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. It is not meant for cats who are going to be re-homed. All cats that participate in this program must come in a humane cat trap.

This program is $25 per cat and includes all of the following required services:

  • Ear Tipping
  • Microchip
  • 1 year distemper vaccine
  • 1 year rabies vaccine

We can only accommodate up to 3 ferals. If you have a colony you are caring for, please reach out to Friends of Feral Felines. Applications for 4 or more cats will not be accepted.

We highly recommend checking with the following low-cost clinics below to see if they have an appointment available sooner.
