Overview

The Water Oak Storm Drainage Improvement Project will reduce street and structure flooding throughout the neighborhood. Located within a drainage area of approximately 115 acres, the project will replace and/or rehabilitate aging infrastructure and provide adequate drainage system capacity. The project area is bordered by Bertonley Avenue to the north, Addison Drive to the south, Emory Lane to the east and Whitby Lane to the west.

January 2026

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services and Sealand Contractors Corp. continue with construction. Work is anticipated to be complete early-2026.

Project updates

• Storm drainage improvements are being installed from N. Sharon Amity Road to Hartness Avenue.  

• Curbs have been installed on N. Sharon Amity Road and sidewalks are expected to be installed in February. 

• Storm drainage improvements near Randolph Middle School are anticipated to be complete in February.

                       

Estimated Cost: $14,100,000*

*includes all costs associated with this project such as planning and design, utility relocation, consultant fees, permits, construction, and landscaping.
