Invasive Plant Removal Workshop

Tired of invasive plants taking over our neighborhoods and parks? This workshop is just for you!

The City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation are working together to provide training for residents who are concerned about the invasive plants that are overrunning our parks, greenways and neighborhoods – and want to do something about it! Participants will receive basic training in plant identification and removal.  Information about the upcoming Neighborhood/Tree Care Grant application process will also be provided.

Who should attend?

County/City residents who want to help on an ongoing basis with control of invasive plants that are crowding out native vegetation.

Goals:
  • Recognize common invasive plant species found in the Mecklenburg County area.
  • Acquire knowledge of plant removal techniques (herbicide-free on Park & Recreation properties) and proper disposal methods.
  • Connect with Park & Recreation's Volunteer Services to become a registered/approved long-term Volunteer/Project Captain.
