The City of Charlotte is seeking input from residents regarding their budget priorities for the upcoming fiscal year, which will begin on July 1. As part of this effort, the city will host two budget engagement events, listed below, throughout March, providing residents with opportunities to learn about the budget process and share their feedback.

  • March 31: Budget Listening Session. Details are forthcoming.

Residents can also share feedback through the FY 2027 Budget Survey. The survey will remain open until Monday, April 6. The Balancing Act budget simulation tool is available for residents to adjust budgets for various city departments and align resources with the services that are most important to them.

“The city’s budget is the foundation of all the services we provide to more than 900,000 residents,” said Marie Harris, director of the City of Charlotte Strategy & Budget Department. “Our plans for advancing Council’s priorities such as mobility, safety, housing and job opportunities are backed by funding that is strategically allocated to meet the community’s needs. It is important that we gain feedback and insights directly from those we serve.”

Following resident engagement, the city manager will present the Proposed FY 2027 Budget on May 4.

Council workshops and presentations can be streamed on the GOV Channel, YouTube and the GOV Channel Streaming App.
