Donny Hamilton, Jr., Deputy City Manager

DCM Donny Hamilton, JuniorDonny Hamilton, Jr. serves as Deputy City Manager for the City of Charlotte. In this leadership role, Hamilton collaborates with internal departments to strengthen organizational alignment, enhance operational efficiency and ensure that Charlotte residents experience the tangible benefits of the city’s ongoing investments in infrastructure and innovation.

A nationally recognized expert in transportation finance, Hamilton brings more than 20 years of experience managing complex infrastructure projects and influencing transportation policy at both the local and federal levels.

Before joining the City of Charlotte, he served with distinction at the Federal Railroad Administration, where he was instrumental in advancing major transit initiatives nationwide and fostering sustainable, forward-looking approaches to mobility.

Hamilton earned a bachelor’s degree in urban planning from Alabama A&M University, a Master of Business Administration from William Woods University, and a Master’s degree in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Nebraska.
