Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control Urges Caution Amid Seasonal Heat and Firework Activity

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control is issuing a public safety reminder urging pet owners to take extra precautions as the region enters peak summer months.Hot temperatures, fireworks, thunderstorms, and other seasonal events can create dangerous and stressful conditions for animals.

Pets should never be left unattended in vehicles. If you see an animal left in a vehicle, please call 911 immediately, as this is an emergency situation with the high temperatures we are experiencing.

You can now access the main shelter at 8315 Byrum Drive Charlotte, NC through several routes that are now reopened.

 I-485 off the West Blvd Exit to Byrum Drive.
Yorkmont Road to Byrum Drive.
