CATS to Relaunch Vanpool Service in Partnership with Commute with Enterprise, Providing Enhanced Service to the Community
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Residents and commuters in the greater Charlotte area now have an enhanced, convenient and cost-effective transportation option with the relaunch of the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) vanpool program. This reimagined service, launched July 1, will enhance service for existing vanpool customers and encourage new customers to join the cost saving transit program.
CATS, through a partnership with Enterprise, is pleased to offer new fuel-efficient vehicles, enhanced customer service and a new “flexible” vanpool option. The flexible option allows customers with a hybrid work schedule to pay a fee per day when commuting to and from their work sites.
“Vanpool has always been an option we’ve been proud to provide for our customers throughout Mecklenburg County,” said CATS Chief Administrative Officer Elizabeth Presutti. “We couldn’t be prouder, however, to launch this reimagined vanpool service in partnership with Commute with Enterprise as it will offer customers better comfort, more cost savings and a seamless way to get to and from work.”
“Vanpooling gives commuters time back in their days and helps them save on transportation costs,” said Commute with Enterprise Vice President Sirus Karimi. “We work closely with our partner employers and public transit agencies to offer convenient vanpool programs that support more sustainable commuting, help fill transit service gaps and reduce congestion while helping employers offer a competitive benefit that can attract and retain talent.”
Vanpool is a prearranged ride-sharing service that allows a group of people, ranging from four to 15 individuals, to commute together in a van or SUV. These groups usually consist of people who live near each other, work in the same general area and have the same schedule.
Those interested in joining the vanpool program can learn more by visiting the vanpool page on ridetransit.org, by emailing vanpool@charlottenc.gov or calling 704-336-5018.
