Beginning in November and continuing through early December, CATS will begin the next phase of system upgrades along the Blue Line, which will require scheduled single-tracking periods and Rail Trail detours near the new pedestrian crosswalk by Publix. These improvements support construction of the new station in South End and essential maintenance.

The Mecklenburg County Pedestrian Skybridge scheduled for installation over the Blue Line (between Sugar Creek and Old Concord stations) will begin Feb. 8. Due to the complexity and safety requirements of the installation, a bus bridge will be implemented to supplement rail service between 36th Street and UNCC stations from 4:30 a.m. until approximately 7 a.m. Normal service will continue between I-485 and 36th Street stations.
