Gold Line Stop Request Service Coming Aug. 31!

Rider’s Alert

Route: Gold Line

Effective: Aug. 31, 2026

Beginning August 31, 2026, Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Gold Line streetcars will operate using stop request service.

Similar to a bus, Gold Line customers must press a “Stop Request” button before their desired station to signal the operator to stop. Buttons are present throughout each streetcar.

Riders waiting on station platforms do not need to do anything differently. The streetcar will continue to stop for customers waiting to board.

In most cases, streetcars will only stop at stations when:

  • A customer has requested the stop using the onboard “Stop Request” button, or

  • A customer is waiting on the station platform to board.

Onboard customers should press the “Stop Request” button after departing the station prior to their stop or when their upcoming station is announced.

If no stop has been requested and no customers are waiting at the station, the streetcar will continue to the next station.

This service improvement is designed to reduce unnecessary stops, helping improve travel times and the overall reliability of Gold Line service.
