CATS and The Relatives Unveil Winning Safe Place Artwork

Charlotte, N.C. – Today, Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Interim CEO Brent Cagle and The Relatives’ Executive Director Trish Hobson unveiled the winning artwork of the annual Safe Place Week youth art contest.

All CATS facilities and vehicles are deemed “Safe Places.” Any youth in crisis can seek help at a designated Safe Place location and be connected to The Relatives to get the help they need.
The Relatives serves as the Safe Place agency for children ages 7-17 in Mecklenburg County.

The unveiling of the artwork is part of the celebration of National Safe Place Week, which takes place March 17-23 this year. The winning artwork, created by a child within The Relatives’ Youth Crisis Center program, will be featured on CATS buses and rail vehicles.

“At CATS, we’re more than just transit; we’re about caring for our community, especially children and young adults facing challenges,” Cagle said. “Our partnership with The Relatives stands as a testament to what we can achieve when we come together with our community partners.”
