CATS Announces June Service Changes
Starting June 3, 2024, Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) will adjust several routes to improve rider experience and on time performance.
Routing and Bus Stop Changes:
Routes 11 North Tryon and 21 Statesville Avenue
- Outbound service leaving Uptown will now travel along College Street between 4th Street and Montford Point Street before connecting back to Tryon Street.
- New stop locations will be at College Street and 6th Street, College Street and 8th Street, and Tryon Street and 11th Street.
Routes 40x Lawyers Road Express, 46x Harrisburg Road Express, 52x Idlewild Express, 64x Matthews Express and 74x Union County Express
- Inbound service traveling to Uptown will now use 4th Street to connect to Johnson & Wales. Service along Church Street, Brooklyn Village Avenue and Graham Street will be discontinued. Riders can use the 4th Street and Church Street bus stop as an alternative.
- Outbound service leaving Uptown will now travel east on 4th Street, right on Mint Street, left on 3rd Street and left on College Street to connect to the Independence Expressway. Service along Graham Street, Brooklyn Village Avenue and College Street (between Brooklyn Village Avenue and 3rd Street) will be discontinued. Riders can use the 3rd Street and Tryon Street or College Street and 4th Street bus stops as an alternative.
Routes 61x Arboretum/Waverly Express and 62x Rea Road Express
- Inbound service traveling to Uptown will now use 4th Street to connect to Johnson & Wales. Service along Church Street, Brooklyn Village Avenue and Graham Street will be discontinued. Riders can use the 4th Street and Church Street bus stop as an alternate.
- Outbound service leaving Uptown will no longer serve the 3rd Street and College Street bus stop. Riders can use the bus stop at 3rd Street and Brevard Street as an alternate.
3rd Street and College Street Bus Stop Removal
- The bus stop at 3rd Street and College Street will be removed due to low ridership. Riders can use the bus stop at 3rd Street and Brevard at the Blue Line station as an alternative.
Route 82x Rock Hill Express
- Route 82x will add reverse commute service between Charlotte and Rock Hill in the morning and between Rock Hill and Charlotte in the evening on weekdays. Please refer to the schedule for more detail.
Additional Schedule Changes
The following bus schedules will be adjusted to improve on time performance:
- Route 9 Central Avenue
- Route 12 South Boulevard
- Route 19 Park Road
- Route 20 Sharon Road
- Route 21 Statesville Avenue
- Route 85x Gastonia
- Route 221 E. Harris-Idlewild Road
New Holiday Schedule Beginning May 27
All bus and rail routes will operate on Saturday schedule for New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, the day after Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Eve. Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day will operate on a Sunday schedule.
