CATS Joins Rail Safety Week: Avoid the Worst, Put Rail Safety First

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is proud to announce its participation in Rail Safety Week, which takes place Sept. 18-24. This initiative, aimed at raising awareness about rail safety and preventing accidents around CATS railroads and transit systems, aligns perfectly with CATS' commitment to ensuring the safety of its riders and the community.

Rail Safety Week serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of safe practices around rail crossings and transit lines. CATS will be actively engaging with the community through a series of informative social media posts, interactive events and outreach efforts along the LYNX Blue Line.

Why Rail Safety Week Matters:

Rail safety is a collective responsibility, and awareness campaigns like Rail Safety Week play a vital role in educating the public about safe behaviors around trains and tracks. According to recent statistics, many accidents at railroad crossings are preventable through increased awareness and adherence to safety guidelines.
