CATS Selects Winning Artwork to be Featured on 2024 Transit Passes

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is announcing the winners of its annual Transit Pass Design Contest, whose artwork will be printed on Local, Express and Express Plus monthly passes for the 2024 calendar year.
- First place: Emily Núñez – Local Monthly Pass
- Second place: Austin Thomas – Express Monthly Pass
- Third place: Unique Patton – Express Plus Monthly Pass
CATS asked North and South Carolina residents to submit original artwork with the theme: Go Green on Transit! Entries were judged and first, second and third place winners were selected by a committee of transit staff members and local art professionals based on the following criteria:
- Does the design address the theme and promote multi-modal transportation in Charlotte in specific or general terms?
- Is the design eye-catching and well-composed?
- Is text absent from the design?
“The Go Green on Transit theme inspired me to bring the beautiful natural elements within our transit system,” first place winner Emily Núñez said. “My piece is a representation of how using CATS can benefit our city and keep it flourishing with its beautiful flora. Using fun, bright colors within the buildings, I hope it inspires the people of our city to continue to keep it bright and loving as I have always known it to be.”
