Charlotte Water has declared Voluntary Water Conservation (Stage 1) for our service area. Visit the Drought Resources page for more information.

Despite recent heavy rainfall, Mandatory Stage 2 water restrictions remain in effect for Charlotte Water customers because the six-month average streamflow in the Catawba-Wateree River Basin remains below normal. The Catawba-Wateree Drought Management Advisory Group (DMAG) evaluates lake and reservoir levels, U.S. Drought Monitor conditions and six-month average streamflow when determining drought-stage conditions across the region. While reservoir levels and drought-monitor conditions have improved, streamflow reflects the area’s prolonged dry period and recovers more slowly after individual rain events. Charlotte Water asks customers to continue following the current outdoor watering schedule and Stage 2 restrictions, including limits on outdoor watering, residential car washing, pool filling and decorative water features.
