Crews Distributed 30,000 Pounds of Ice Melt
The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) will return to a normal operating schedule for all services on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026.
While service is resuming as scheduled, CATS urges riders to remain cautious. With temperatures expected to stay near freezing, customers should be mindful of potentially slippery spots on platforms, at bus stops and along the transit system.
To prepare the system for regular service, CATS crews and staff hit the following milestones:
- Ice Mitigation: Distributed approximately 30,000 pounds of ice melt across the entire system.
- Rail Maintenance: Deployed 10 ice cutter trains, operating 24 hours a day throughout the duration of the storm.
- Customer Support: The CATS Customer Service Call Center handled 675 inquiries on Monday, Jan. 26 alone.
- Staff Dedication: Essential employees from all divisions remained on-site throughout the weekend to manage operations
We appreciate the patience of our customers during this storm. Thank you for riding CATS! For questions or concerns, community members can speak to CATS Customer Service at 704-336-7433.
